G6 Quantex

// PERFORMACE ALL WAVE DESIGN

The Quantex is a great all-around wave board that will feel comfortable in all types of waves. In onshore conditions, you will benefit from turbocharged planing as well as plenty of speed to navigate flatter sections of the wave. The chamfered tail design allows the board to perform tight critical moves in the pocket. It also handles choppier conditions more effectively due to the progressive double concave which absorbs chops and stabilizes the rear end of the board. The Quantex is suitable for intermediate to expert riders, looking for a board that is easy to control, yet can be tuned to shred in all conditions.

The Quantex design story told by Simmer Style Board Designer, Ola Helenius:

A question that has stayed with us since the Cortex came around: Who should have the Quantum and who should have the Cortex? The question is unsurprising with two such prominent boards for less than perfect conditions in the range, each with its own fanbase. Now the dilemma is resolved! As obliged by the name, the new Quantex ticks the box as both an easy-to-use and effective wind swell board while still being whippy and exciting when pushed harder.

In the Quantex, we have combined everything we have learned so far about fast and effective and still turny rockers and how different outline curves and tail shapes can fine-tune the ride character of a board. The result is an all-round wave board that will not only turn the most average wave break into an exciting playground, but also thrive when the conditions are on!

The new Quantex has a firm genetic baseline going back to the Cortex in the smaller sizes, while the largest size , in particular the 109, has a stronger Quantum heritage. The outline has more drop shape than the Cortex, but keeps the winger design – our proven trick for combining bottom turn looseness with top turn grip. The chamfered tail shape is the last little detail that ignites the turn initiation even further. Compared to the Quantum, the smaller versions of the Quantex is several classes more lively and exciting while still being super easy and effective in the planing department. The bigger Quantex sizes keep the well know performance of the Quantum but add a snappier feel and better high-speed performance. While the 109 keeps the single to double concave bottom shape of the Quantum, the other sizes have a rocker that is based of the Cortex, that in turn goes back to the super fast and effective rocker from the special Peahi wave board developed for Kai Katchadourian. The semi short tails, with cut-off edges and a small center swallow, gives a snappy bottom turn and lets the boards keeps its top turn speed in tight turns, despite the fast rocker. The nose shape has been optimized to allow a long rail line for stability in drawn-out turns, while still being compact enough to fit in tighter spots. Overall, all sizes of the new Quantex work as all-round wave boards with particularly high performance in wind swell conditions. Compared to the Quantum, the Cortex however opens up a better performance spectrum in a steeper and faster wave, where the shorter shapes fit better.

The Quantex is the one board solution; super easy and effective in tricky conditions while still being lively with a mean turn.

Tech

The Electric Flex Technology
Our layup, construction, and reinforcement are all placed in where user needs and they all work in together to create the optimal stiffness to weight ration. The construction moves with you, rather and against you, which makes the board feel more lively in every movement. We call this technology Electric Flex. For our wave boards we use 45 degree carbon layup for maximum the strength and flex and for our flatwater boards we use 30 degree carbon layup for more vertical strength. Basically, flex and stiffness where its needed. The main features of the construction is the PVC Sandwich stringer. This is the spine of the board which absorbs and distributes the force from impacts throughout the boards entire construction. This eliminates unnecessary breakage as stress is shared between the entire hull, creating a much more durable construction. The stringer also helps to maintain the rocker curve during manoeuvres.

Hot-Coat Finish
All G6 boards feature a hot-coat paint finish. This process combines the colour pigment with the outer layer of a hard epoxy gel coat, this improves the board colour longevity, making it almost impossible to stratch off, it produces an extremely UV-resistant coating that ensures the boards colour resists fading in strong sunlight, all of this whilst saving weight by replacing the base coat paint, and two layers of top coat paint

Tail Design

The chamfered tail design allows the board to draw snappier turns when you engage it in rail-to-rail maneuvers. The Quantex features a longer and wider tail needed to navigate flatter sections of the wave with maintained speed and maneuverability.

Contours

An efficient rocker with a progressive Vee with a low-drag midsection for quick planing, as well as speed in less powerful surf. The double concave accelerate towards the tail causing the water flow to follow, absorbing chops and creating drive towards the fins for snappy turns in all conditions.

Double Screw Inserts
Double foot strap inserts for maximum load and adjustable stance settings for tighter or personal preferences to either 14.5 cm or 15.5 cm for the front straps or 14 cm or 15 cm width for the back foot strap.

Dual-Density EVA Foot Pads
Dual-density EVA foot pads; 8 mm + 2 mm thickness. Textured with a diamond grip for superhero traction.

Parallel outline

The parallel outline converges into the tail area underfoot providing ample lift for early planing and lots of pop for aerials and jumps. The Quantex can easily adapt to different turning angles. With the stance set as far back as possible, the inner angled rear section adds grip in top turns, and extra torque in tight bottom turns.

SELF REGULATING GORETEX © AIRVENT

The Quantex comes standard with a self-regulating Goretex © Air vent which allows air to pass back and forth between the foam core and the exterior of the board, whilst being completely waterproof. The double-layer membrane of Goretex on either side of a rubber O-ring prevents pressure build-up inside the board, minimizing the risk of delamination caused by overpressure inside the board even during a flight. You’ll never need to unscrew an air vent screw again.

Standard fin setup // TRI

The tri fin setup will provide early planing, great upwind tracking and ease of sailing while still providing an insanely tight turning radius. On the wave, this setup will give you the best possible projection and drive in turns, assisting the sailor in maintaining speed through the bottom turn, even in less powerful waves. Versatility and snappiness with a user-friendly feeling are the main characteristics of this setup.

Alternative fin setup // QUAD

Equipped with a quad fin setup, the Quantex gets more planted and controlled at higher wave riding speeds. The power of the fin cluster acts further forward, which drives the front rail into the water and gives the board added control in turns. At the same time, the shorter depth of the two rear fins makes it easier to dig in the rail at high speeds which means that the board feels more responsive in fast side-shore or cross offshore conditions

Carbon slotbox fins
The manufacturing process with molded pre-preg carbon combined with an Airex core makes the fin one of the lightest slotbox fins on the market. More than half the weight compared to traditional G10 fins.

I was a big fan of the Quantum, so when the chat begun to combine the Quantum and Cortex to make the Quantex I was a bit worried. But it is safe to say that I'm pleasantly surprised. The board works rips in all conditions. It does marry up the best features of the two boards very well. It's a smooth ride going out and on the wave it's snappy as hell, and it is easy to maintain speed in bottom turn.  The Quantex is a great all-round waveboard.

Alessio Stillrich

I use the Quantex during high-wind days in Pozo when it gets quite choppy, as it is as super smooth ride and really controllable in tricky conditions. It is also really easy to generate speed in the flat section of the wave and quick to whip around to attack the lip. All and all a super sick board to have in your quiver. I ride the 79 L.

Kai Katchadourian

I ride Quantex when I want to change up my approach to conditions that need an extra angle of creativity. Great for jumping and riding with lots of torque and tight arcs. Adaptable to almost any condition.
